Shops around the corner : rue Bichat

The street right behind the hotel, rue Bichat, has recently seen a very pleasant transformation: lots of fun boutiques, yummy food stops, and hip places to grab a drink!

Here’s what we suggest:

1. Pop Market, 50 rue Bichat

This very fun store is filled with little gadgets and great gift/souvenir ideas for your family and friends back home!

2. Bensimon Warehouse, 52 rue Bichat

Bensimon, the designer and brand of the famous tennies that all French people can be seen with, has his warehouse on this street… he often has private sales, stop by and hopefully you’ll get lucky!  Otherwise, if you would like to see other things by Bensimon, including home items, clothes, travel accessories, check out his pop-up store that is directly in front of the hotel on the other side of the canal.

3. Cantine de Quentin, 52 rue Bichat

Looking for comforting French Classics for lunch ? Just stop here :  in a charming épicerie setting, Quentin welcomes you for a delicious and juicy “poulet fermier” or a tasty shrimps risotto…

In the summer you can also enjoy a table outside…

4. Pink Flamingo, 67 rue Bichat

This is not just any pizza place… you’ll find flavors here you never thought could go on a pizza!  A must try if you have a little hungry spot on the go.  During the summer days, order your pizza and chill by the canal with your pink balloon and you’re pizza will be delivered straight to you!!! :)

5. Petit Cambodge, 20 rue Alibert angle rue Bichat

For a Bobun* on the go, this spot right next to the hotel is the place to be!

Open every day except Sunday.

*Bobun is a vietnamese dish filled with lots of goodies including rice noodles, sauteed beef or shrimp, sauteed onions, spring rolls, fresh veggies, etc.

6. Café Clochette, 16 avenue Richerand angle rue Bichat

A really cool “bistrot” where you really feel at home, serving good food at reasonable prices and open every day  noon to 11 pm  (11.30 pm Thur-Sun)… What else ????

7. Jardins de l’Hôpital Saint-Louis, 42 rue Bichat

Probably one of the most pleasant hidden spots in Paris : only a few Parisians know that they can access this beautiful and quiet garden for a picnic or just to hang out with friends…

8. Objet Céleste, 34bis rue Bichat

“Unique and poetic”. This could be Helene’s and Emilie’s motto : Emilie creates delicate pieces of jewelry while Helene designs colourful mobiles, wonderful lamps or handbags and unique small poetic dishes… Caution : you can quickly get addicted !

9. Carillon, 18 rue Alibert angle rue Bichat

A genuine “bar de quartier” . The crowd is rather young and the ambiance is really cool… The perfect place to get a beer before going for dinner at Le Cambodge or Chez Philou…

10.  Tien Hiang, 14 rue Bichat

Not the most design spot on rue Bichat but really an excellent veggie Thai restaurant !
